Dr. Lee Stothers, Founder
Cornell University, B.A., University of Michigan M.A., UBC, Ph.D.
Dr. Lee Stothers is a Certified Eating Psychology, Body Mind Nutrition & Wellness Counselor and Certified Tuning Fork & Sound Therapist. As every cell and organ has its own vibration, our bodies can be viewed as intelligent musical instruments that require regular attention and tuning. When we are attuned, we feel relaxed, happy and healthy as we go about our daily lives vibrantly interacting with our external environment.
However, when one or more parts falls out of balance and continues to be ignored, gradually illness sets in. Such a state of dis-ease requires that we retune ourselves by listening carefully to our body’s messages. Sickness is the body’s wake up call to be attentive to what has become discordant within ourselves and our lives.
Eating Psychology Coaching is an exciting and cutting edge approach developed by the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. It effectively addresses weight concerns, binge eating, overeating, body image challenges, and various nutrition related health concerns. As an Eating Psychology Coach, Dr. Stothers’ approach is positive and empowering.
She does not see your eating challenges merely as a sign that “something is wrong with you” – but as a place to explore some of the personal dimensions in life that impact food, weight and health. Often, our eating challenges are connected to work, money, relationship, family, intimacy, life stress and so much more.
By working on the places that are most relevant for you, success is more easily achieved. As an Eating Psychology Coach, Dr. Stothers looks to support you with counseling strategies and nutrition principles that are nourishing, doable, sustainable, and that yield results.
Mind-Body Nutrition is an exciting and timely new field that advances the practice of clinical nutrition by exploring the psychophysiology of how thoughts, feelings and beliefs impact nutritional metabolism and health. Originated by Marc David, Founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, it goes far beyond classical nutrition by focusing on the fascinating connections between brain, body, and behavior. Simply put, what we eat is only half of the story of good nutrition.
The other half is who we are as eaters. Mind Body Nutrition reveals how stress physiology, the relaxation response, breathing, awareness, pleasure, meal timing and much more profoundly influence digestion and calorie burning. And it offers practical and results-oriented strategies for the most commonly seen eating challenges and health issues of our times.
Dr. Lee Stothers is a Certified Tuning Fork Therapist as well as gifted musician and composer. She combines her counseling in Eating Psychology & Body Mind Nutrition with Sound Healing because it enables her to delve more deeply into her client’s emotional, psychological and spiritual issues that can be at the root cause of particular eating disorders and health issues. During her sound therapy sessions, she uses tuning forks, Qigong sound healing, noh and other vocal toning techniques, Tibetan singing bowls, Didgeridoo and various musical instruments, energy medicine, clairaudience, clairvoyance and clairsentience to mediate dissonances, imbalances and blockages within the subconscious and body’s energy systems caused by stress, emotional disturbances, trauma, life habits, genetic predisposition and poor diet. Using sound and purification techniques, Dr. Lee Stothers of Sonic Visions initially brings her clients into a relaxed meditative state. She then does a full body sound vibrational treatment employing tuning forks, vocalization and clairaudient intervention to isolate areas of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual blockage, open energy centers, release past memories and balance vibrational frequencies.
Dr. Stothers also specializes in integral & shamanic soul journeying, memory retrieval and dream elucidation, utilizing a variety of shamanic techniques and vocal toning as well as other forms of spiritual or energy healing to uncover early childhood trauma, deeply suppressed emotional blockages and soul loss or purpose. In addition, she has enhanced her mind body understanding through training and practice in aromatherapy, herbal medicine, energy medicine, mind body medicine, Japanese noh, Qigong, yoga, shamanic journeying, Ayurveda, Functional Nutrition, macrobiotics, foraging, fermentation and nutritional supplementation.
Won Seok Lim (Sok), Cofounder
Won Seok Lim (Sok), Addiction Coach & Shaman
A self-designated Shaman and Addiction Coach, Sok (Won Seok Lim) grew up in South Korea. For the last two decades, he has been living in Canada as an artist and painter represented by Artbeatus International Gallery. He also wrote the novel, Grey Canvas.
A survivor of early childhood rape, assault and extreme poverty, Sok’s challenge has been to overcome a deeply ingrained paranoia and longing to escape life on Earth, since as a child he perceived Planet Earth to be a hostile planet and the source of his underlying traumas. The opposite of not wanting to live on Earth is a homesick feeling for the unknown that often comes to him in out-of-body experiences like the flying dreams depicted in his paintings.
Sok’s life has been a constant withdrawal from his own body chemicals that induced the out-of-body experiences needed to buffer his infant traumas. As a self-proclaimed addict of those particular chemicals, he has dedicated his life to finding alternatives through activities such as painting the inner images that draw out those internal feelings he calls home. Now he views this planet as home away from home. Through his moments of painting, he continuously redefines for himself that home is where he is.
Addicted to life and death dramas rooted in early childhood traumas, Sok faced many life risks that caused him to confront all of his fears. Such fears induced him to choose to escape through lifestyle choices and substances. Without any more fear, his ego no longer suppresses his desires in the form of inhibitions that lead to addiction and illness. Therefore, now without inhibitions he speaks freely of his path that led him to his freedom. .
As effective as it can be, this holistic mind body approach is intended only as a supplement to mainstream medical treatments.
